World’s Oldest Cat Still Thinks It’s A Kitten

The oldest cat in the world at age 26 still thinks and acts like a kitten. At his age, he still chases critters and jumps around like a hyper-active kitten. A 26-year old cat is equivalent to 121 years in human life. Corduroy holds the Guinness World Record as being the oldest cat alive.

This old cat still chases mice and critters and enjoys his time outside like a young kitten. He was adopted in 1989 from a shelter in Oregon by his owner Reed Okura when she was only 7 years old. Reed has spent her years growing up with Corduroy and they are still inseparable today.

Oldest Cat Holds Guinness World Record

Due to his age and health, the world’s oldest cat has to watch his diet. Corduroy is on a low-protein diet to protect his kidneys but is still in vigorous health despite of this. Reed thinks that her decision not to declaw the cat that enabled him to hunt for food was largely responsible for his longevity. This allowed Corduroy to exercise and catch critters in the outdoors for most of his life.

“It is an honor to have Corduroy in our life, I honestly don’t remember much of my life without him,” she added. “He is a wonderful companion and I hope to give him a happy and healthy life for many more years,” Reed said.
