You have to see the video below. Yes, it’s a commercial. However, if you take away the sponsor you are left with a great video that should all make us consider how we go about our day to day lives.
If you have never performed random acts of kindness before, you might want to try doing something nice for someone. Try doing something totally selfless and do something nice for someone you’ve never met. Those who practice this regularly seem to benefit in many ways.
Practice Random Acts Of Kindness
Random acts of kindness or altruism is the act of doing something for another person at your own cost. This may be a financial cost or your time and energy. People are motivated in a million different ways for their reason for doing this.
People who do random acts of kindness usually give out of generosity or out of concern for people who are less fortunate than they are. Some people even get hooked to this practice and carry out altruism on a regular basis such as donating to charities or volunteering if they do not have the financial means to help people. The truth charitable people in our world give their time to anyone, even people who have more material things than them.
A London-based psychologist and altruism expert, Dr. George Fieldman, said that there are certain benefits to doing random acts of kindness which get some people more hooked on it than others. Altruism gives you a long-lasting feeling of well-being. Unlike having a great meal which only makes you feel great for an hour, helping others in need makes a person feel good about themselves longer.
What if you were stuck behind a cashier waiting forever for the person in front of you to pay for his coffee? Then you realize that he did not have enough cash to pay his bill. Would you cover the balance or just pay for the whole thing? Would you do it out of empathy or just because you want the line to move along faster? Maybe you would lose your patience and snap at that person holding up the line.
Give This A Try! I Dare You
Next time you are in a drive-thru coffee lane try paying for a coffee for the person behind you. It’s absolutely amazing the feeling you’ll have for the rest of the day. You can’t help but feel good about the smile you put on a strangers face when they drive up to the window and find out a stranger bought them a coffee.
This video is AMAZING! This is the world I want to live in!
